Here’s Part 2 of my Slow Blues Intros in A (12/8) mini lesson with three more intro ideas you can use to start a 12-bar slow blues in a strong, musical way. Just like in Part 1, each intro begins before bar 1 (with a short pickup / anacrusis) and then fills the first A7 bar. Starting well is a big deal: a solid intro instantly locks you into the feel, sets your phrasing, and makes the whole chorus sound more confident, even if the lines are simple. Have fun with these and try mixing and matching them so you always have a few go-to ways to kick off a slow blues.
