Hi folks! Here is a solo I wrote playing on sweet 8-Bar Blues in A. This progression is typical of many Blues standards (such as Ain’t Nobody’s Business and Need Your Love So Bad). A well-balanced solo should use notes from both the Pentatonic major and minor, alternating sweet to energic moments.
Hi folks! I wrote this solo playing classic blues licks with lots of slurs, bends, and vibrato. They’re all centered around the Pentatonic major and minor. The backing track I made is a 12-Bar Slow blues in 12/8 at 50 Bpm in the key of C.
I’ve been teaching this solo to my students for many years as I consider it a valid and not too hard to learn example of how to use pentatonic scales for phrasing on a standard 12-Bar Blues progression. I hope it helps and gives you some new ideas!
