Today I’m excited to share a super useful pattern centered around the 1st Extended Box of the Blues Scale, perfect for diagonal phrasing. I use these patterns to navigate the scale both vertically and horizontally starting from the 1st Box. Today’s example is in the key of D and played over a 12-bar funk blues.
