Here is a standard 12-Bar Jazz Blues progression in the key of Bb. Whilst the basic 12-Bar Blues just contains 3 chords (I7, IV7, and V7), the jazz-blues also incorporates the most common progression in jazz music: the II-V-I cadence, major and minor. The first cadence is between bar 4 and 5 (Fm7 – Bb7 – Eb9), the second between bar 8 and 9 (Dm7 – G7b9 – Cm7). Diminished chords are also used at bar 6 to connect Eb9 to Bb7, and the turnaround (I – VI – II – V) at the end gives sweetness to the entire progression.
